Pallottine Sisters 100 Years

A hundred years ago in 1913 the Pallotine sisters arrived to which was then British Honduras, coming from far away Germany being their origin. After missing the boat ride on the Titanic, the sisters took a later ship to the United Sates. Where they encountered a priest that was coming to British Honduras. After arriving into Belize City they would have taken a boat, “Cayo boat” after five or so days they would arrived into then “El Cayo” San Ignacio they would have spent a night or two at the adjoining thatch roof building beside the priest’s house. Their final destination was Benque Viejo del Carmen, so either my horse or walking they made their way. A convent was later built in Benque Viejo and in San Ignacio, where the Pallotine sisters took admin over the schools. Continue Reading
